The ‘City of Lights’ is a bucket list destination for students, educators and appreciators of art alike.
Your first stop naturally, will be the Louvre. Best-known as the home of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and distinguishable by I. M. Pei’s glass pyramids that adorn its entrance, the Louvre boasts a collection of 35,000 pieces. Experience breathtaking large-scale works by Delacroix, Gericault, Caravaggio and David.
Admire works by Degas and Manet in Musée d’Orsay, see Rodin’s The Thinker in Musée Rodin. Musée Picasso not only has a collection of paintings, sculptures, prints and engravings, but also written archives containing Picasso’s own personal notes and papers. Swap over to modern art at Centre Georges Pompidou – a public haven of art and culture which combines the National Art Museum, Public Information Library and Industrial Creation Centre.
Outside Paris, visit Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny. The beautifully maintained property served as inspiration for many of the Impressionist Master’s greatest works such as Water Lillies and Japanese Bridge.
Complete your visit to the most visited city in the world by ascending the Eiffel Tower and enjoying a cruise along the River Seine. Your local guide will take you to the city’s famous landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur, the Champs Elysées and the Tuileries Gardens. You may choose to celebrate the end of your tour with a day at Disneyland Paris.

Experience the great Masters of the Renaissance and soak up the Mediterranean sunlight in Italy.
In the capital, admire works by Caravaggio, Bernini and Titan at the Borghese Gallery. Take an expert guided tour beyond the walls of the Vatican, wandering St Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. Marvel at Michelangelo’s awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel frescoes including The Last Judgement and The Creation of Adam, as well as the emotional Pieta inside St Peter’s Basilica. The treasures inside the Vatican Museums includes Raphael’s School of Athens.
Visit the beautiful city of Florence – the birthplace of the Renaissance. The Accademia Gallery, most well-known for housing Michelangelo’s masterpiece, David, as well as his sculptural series Prisoners. Continue to the Duomo – the huge Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore which dominates the skyline of Florence. On the interior of its dome you will find the frescoes of the Last Judgement designed by Giorgio Vasari. Arrive early to the most visited museum in Florence – Uffizi Gallery, where up to 10,000 people each day are admitted! Admire Botticelli’s greatest works including Birth of Venus and Allegory of Spring. Throughout its many halls other renaissance artists including Giotto, Michelangelo and Raphael.
If time allows, include Milan in your itinerary to see da Vinci’s Last Supper inside Santa Maria delle Grazie.
Whilst in Italy why not combine Art with History and have students experience a selection of the world’s most significant archaeological discoveries such as the Coliseum and lost city of Pompeii.
